2013 Scholarship
The RKL Education Foundation, Inc., is pleased to once again offer the RKL Education Foundation Scholarships. These scholarships were created to award deserving male minority college-bound high school students who live in Gwinnett County. This year, the RKL Education Foundation will award up to two scholarships to deserving Gwinnett County high school male minority students. All applicants will be considered regardless of ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation. The following will be awarded to the top two candidates respectively:
- Brother Earnest Gibson Memorial Scholarship - $1000.00
- RKL Education Foundation Scholarship - $500.00
Properly completed applications must be postmarked by April 26, 2013 in order to be eligible for consideration; this includes the application, essay, transcripts, photograph of applicant (headshot) and two letters of recommendation. Please review the scholarship rules on page three of this packet prior to submitting an application packet. Five finalists will be selected for interviews. The interviews are scheduled to take place during the week of May 11, 2013 (subject to change). Once the interviews are complete, the scholarship recipients will be notified within ten days of the last scheduled interview.
To apply for the RKL Education Foundation Scholarships, make sure that the following items are in included in your application packet:
- Properly completed application.
- Current resume and official transcript.
- Photograph of applicant (headshots only please)
- Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a current educator).
- A 2-3 paged, double-spaced essay based on the following topic: What are the reasons for your interests? Analyze your childhood. How were your interests shaped by your upbringing?
